Is Global Warming a Myth – Or Not

On May 19, 2008, the National Press Club in Washington released a petition signed by nearly 32,000 noted American scientists who reject the premise that Global Warming and Climate Change are a man made phenomenon. In addition to rejecting the idea that the global increase in temperature is the fault of mankind; they reject the entire Kyoto accord to limit greenhouse gas emissions.

In a letter by Frederick Seitz, Past President, National Academy of Sciences, U.S.A., President Emeritus, Rockefeller University, that accompanied the petition, Mr. Seitz states, "Research data on climate change do not show that human use of hydrocarbons is harmful. To the contrary, there is good evidence that increased atmospheric carbon dioxide is environmentally helpful." As a result, the petition was signed and agreed to by 31,072 American scientists. And of those, 9,021 hold PhDs.

Now I don't know the count on the number of scientists that do agree with the whole liberal global warming point of view, but 32,000 scientists who disagree is notable. The difference between the two is that those, whose who are promoting the idea that we caused and are causing climate change, have an agenda.. Their agenda comes from the fact that millions of research dollars are at stake. Governments and foundations all around the world are handing out millions of dollars to research Global Warming. If you are a scientist on the side that disagrees with the concept, how much of that money can you expect?

Another reason many question the validity of the Global Warming cause is that it the current feel good cause célèbre for liberals. You can read new articles every day about evidence of the increase in temperature and man’s influence that cite the premise as if it were a fact, when in fact it is still only a theory. Theories are put forth to be proven. Just because a theory has caught the eye of many in journalism, does make it a fact.

A good example of this sort of journalism can be found in a recent article that appeared in the Akron Beacon Journal titled "Kid Kraft – Learn About Climate Change". What is of concern here too is the obvious indoctrination of our impressionable children into this one way path of thinking, rather than looking at both sides. The article proudly states its premises as if they are universally accepted as fact.

It wasn't that long ago that we would here daily about the depletion of the Ozone layer. Now we are hearing complaints on the build up of Ozone around populated areas and the accumulation of green house gases. Green house gases contribute to the ozone layer and act is the same way that does the Ozone layer itself. So I would caution those of you who feel that this current way of thinking about Global Warming is acceptable.

We here at Global Warming Fact Finder are willing to keep an open mind, but so far have been unable to sign on to the popular premise that Global Warming and Climate Change are Man Made problems. Furthermore the idea that we can have any effect on the future global climate only comes from arrogance.
